Key information

All households, private households, persons in private households, private dwellings, classified or cross-classified by : province, regional authority area, county, town, urban/rural, type of accommodation, year built, number of rooms occupied, weekly rent, water supply, sewerage facilities, central heating facilities, PC ownership, and access to the Internet. Statistics are also provided on the average number of persons in private households, the nationality and birthplace of the reference person, one-off houses in rural areas, the occupancy status on Census night, and the vacancy rate. Information is supplied in the Small Area Population Statistics (SAPS) classified by Census Enumeration Areas, Dáil Constituencies, Electoral Divisions, Gaeltacht Areas, Garda Regions, Divisions and Districts, Health Service Executive Areas, Local Electoral Areas, Towns, Urban and Rural areas of each county.

Scope

All households and dwelling places are included. The census figures relate to the de facto population, i.e. the figures include visitors present on census night as well as those in residence, while usual residents temporarily absent from the area are excluded from the census count.
